Another 3 am blog post

Friday evening I tried to feed Finnigan a little rice cereal mixed with breast milk, even though we are several weeks before the recommended time frame to start solid foods because the baby had been showing a lot of interest in food when I eat. Like bending in half backwards to get down to my plate as an example, and biting at my plate. He ate about five or six bites, most of which ran back out of his mouth, and then turned his head and would not take anymore. I tried to put the rest in a bottle so we would not waste the milk, but he kept pushing the  bottle out of his mouth and rooting for what Colin calls, "the real thing." =) So, we will try again in a few weeks, but he's not quite ready yet for the solid food thing.

As far as milestones go, the baby has a new trick that he has started doing. During tummy time he has been able to get his legs underneath him, and scoot 380 degrees around in a circle. However, yesterday while on his back he began to arch his back and push with his feet to scoot on his back about three feet away towards his toy. But then he bumped his head on said toy. Ouch. We call it the backstroke.

Yesterday we went on an adventure to JC Penny's for the baby's three month pictures. I fed the baby, and bathed the baby, then put him down for a nap.

He was still sleeping when it was time to go, and we had to wake him up to go. He was doing fine until we got there, and the SECOND he saw that photographer, he literally SCREAMED like someone had pinched him. I am still not sure what that was all about, except that I had screamed out like that in the morning when the baby bit me while I was attempting to feed him, so learned behavior? He had never reacted to anyone like that, he usually just soaks up all the attention. He continued to fuss the entire time she was trying to take pictures, but luckily she was very patient and we ended up getting some pretty good pictures of the baby.

Here he is in Mommy's arms, which seemed to be the only time today he did not cry:

You can view the images HERE, but our CD won't be available for another week. Colin got a free 10 by 13 of him and the baby for Father's day, which was a very nice surprise and made me pretty excited. I LOVE free stuff. I love when people give me their old hand me downs too, I just got a couple of bags of stuff from a co-worker which made my day. =)

I was less pleased with how I look in the pictures. My current hair cut is my least favorite I have ever had, and I was tired, and looked like it. I always squint when I know the camera is going to flash in my eyes as well. It's a behavior I cannot seem to rectify, and my mother and grandmother do it as well. However, there were a couple that weren't too awful. I went back and forth about even being in the pictures, because I am less than pleased with the way I look at the moment, but I was told by multiple people that I would be sorry later if I wasn't in at least a few of them. I am sure that they are right, so I am glad we got a couple with me in them, even though I wasn't happy with the way I look at the moment.

The baby continued to be cranky all day, and acted tired, wouldn't eat well, and kept throwing up every time he would eat more than usual. I think from the rice cereal the night before was making his tummy hurt maybe? I am not sure but he finally got a decent nap in the evening time, and has (so far) slept through the night in the crib which he hasn't done in awhile. He has been waking up to eat every couple of hours since he has been on his three month growing spurt. He has gained at least and inch, and a couple of pounds since May first. We are up to 26 inches, 13.2 pounds which going by the WHO growth chart for strictly breast fed babies, Finnigan is now in the 50th percentile. He had previously been 20th percentile, which made me feel like a bad mommy, but he's getting chunky enough, I think we are doing just fine. =)

We were going to go to the zoo, but baby was too cranky, and it was too hot, so we will try again another day.
