I haven't had the chance to blog for awhile! The baby doesn't really nap much during the day, so the only really decent block of time I really have to myself is if I get up for an hour or two at night and blog. So I will try to do that once every week or two as a game plan.

My birthday was on May 21st, I had to work the weekend of my birthday, so the weekend after Colin and I went "away," together for couple time without the baby. We were "gone," Friday night till Sunday morning. However, I wasn't ready to be away from Finnigan for very long so we actually had a stay-cation in West Des Moines and stayed at a nice hotel five minutes away from Colin's parents house as they were the ones watching the baby. That way we were able to drop him off late on friday night, visit him several times on saturday, and then pick pick him up early on Sunday. And on Saturday we took him back for several hours to meet a couple of my best friends for lunch so that they could see the baby. My friend Karina has a baby named Sergio that was born a couple weeks after Colin and my wedding last year. As a matter of fact, Karina was pretty much ready to pop, but still performed as one of my bridesmaids anyways. That is a good friend for you.

So all in all, I wasn't away from him for very long, and I still didn't sleep well when I was. Even though he was five minutes away in the hands of Colin's perfectly capable parents. But, you know, baby steps. =)

For my birthday I received a hobby lobby gift card and have started a scrap book for the baby. I am not very good at it, but it's a fun hobby to do in the few minutes a day that I can steal for myself. An expensive hobby, but a fun one nonetheless. Hopefully I can stay interested in it for longer than I was the last time I attempted scrap booking, my interests tend to wax and wane with my attention span.

Finnigan was three months on June first. Below is a picture I took of him on that day. He's getting so big! 

and my mother turned 49 on that same day. We are getting family pictures taken next weekend, so I am going to get her an 8x10 portrait for her birthday as a late gift, which I think is something she will really enjoy as she is really enjoying being a first time grandmother. My brother has a baby as well just a couple months older then Finnigan, so she became a grandma twice in a very short time period, and she is loving it.

Such a fun adventure I have just begun with my little family, and Finnigan is blessed with so many people that love him. I am looking forward to this journey of raising this little guy. What a blessing and a privilege.  =)
