October update

Well, a lot has happened since I last posted. I guess that happens when you wait so long to journal. =)

Nathan chose to go to Kansas City to be endowed prior to going on his mission. Since we decided to just drive out there for the session and then drive back, we left Finn with my mother and brother for the day. My mom has been doing great post-op and has taken back over Finn-care responsibilities.

It was a good experience to be able to be there when Nathan was endowed. And while we were in town, we went to the same Boston Market I went to last time I was in town, and I chowed down and some cream spinach and rotisserie chicken. Ummmmm, my favorite!

Colin has been busy doing house projects. He installed a new shower head and handle set in our bathroom, because the water pressure was horrible when we moved in with the old shower head, and the handle was missing when we moved in, and we had to use pliers to turn the shower off and on. He also replaced our garbage disposal that was not functioning, and placed a storm door on the front of our house, which was doorless for some reason when we moved in. He's becoming quite the handy man, and is talking of pulling permits and replacing our garage roof himself. Our insurance company requires that the garage roof be replaced to keep our insurance with them, so hopefully we can get it done soon, as snow is probably not too far out at this point. We already have lows of 30 degrees several days this weekend. We Still have to put different railings out front because the railing they have up now is actually just old piping, and doesn't look very pretty.

Nathan left for the MTC this week. His plane left early in the morning while I was still at work, but Colin was able to go and see him off early that morning at the airport. Finn and I had to say our goodbyes the night before.

Nathan loves Finn a lot, so it will be hard I know for him to miss two years of his growing up, so we will have to send him pictures and letter updates and such as Finn will be in pre-school by the time Nathan comes back. And, hopefully, we will have a new niece or nephew by then too. Or maybe, not, we have been trying for almost a year with no luck yet, so we will see. If we are never able to conceive, again it wouldn't be a travesty though, since we plan on fostering and adopting anyways.

It is very hard on me to have to wait to adopt, wait until we have a bigger house with more room for more kids. Currently we live in a large home that has been converted into a duplex there are two nice sized room downstairs where my mom and brother live and then upstairs Colin and I have a nice sized bedroom, and Finn has a tiny nursery, but there is no other room or space for more kids. We can shove another crib or swing somewhere for a baby, but we would never get approved for a home study at this point, but we are paying down debt, and then we will start saving for a second, larger home and then, hopefully immediately, we can start the adoption process. I get very anxious when I hear of kids that need homes, knowing I could provide...if only we had the room!

I took Finn to the Zoo one more time before many of the exhibits get shut down when it starts getting cold. We went with one of his little friends from nursery, Ezra. That was a lot of fun. We also took him to Monkey Joes. At first, he absolutely refused to go near any of the inflatables, he just ran around in circles touching everything. I tired four or five times to get him inside any of the toddler ones, but he would just whine and escape. We were on the way out the door, so I thought I would try it just one more time, and then he decided he didn't actually want to leave.

He was pretty pooped by the time we left.

And, then a little bit of a photo dump of some new photos since the last time I made a post:

Mommy and Finn like to build Forts!

Oh, so I start school on November 1st, and then on November 13th, I will begin a day shift position in the ER. Currently I will be working three 12s a week, and every third weekend, which is my ideal position. After I work there a year or so, I am going to apply to be able to take the CCRN test and after I am certified, and I have my MSN degree I would like to get a job in a PED ER, and eventually be a NICU nurse. That is my current Five year plan, but ask me again in five days, and it may change!

Finn and I met Karina and her babies Sergio (who is a few months older than Finn) and Ariana at my Asian family's house, where I made Pho. Finn loves playing with Sergio, and they enjoyed chasing each other around in circles.

I have been obsessed with shopping a thrift stores and I have updated my entire wardrobe after I was endowed with thrift store finds. Shopping at thrift stores is my new addiction. I also made my own laundry soap, so I am excited to see how that works out when I do laundry today.

....and 24 hours later!

In September, Colin and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary together. He bought me flowers, and we went with Finn out to Waterfront for the first time where I ordered the Chuck Norris everyone has been telling me about. It was ok, but I was expecting the best roll ever, which did not happen. Finn really enjoyed his after diner mint.

The holidays are approaching, I am starting on a new degree and a new job, so life's about to get a little hectic, but I will try to update soon!
