April 1, 2013

Life goes so fast with a toddler! Finnigan started walking around his first birthday, (not in time for Christmas, as predicted). Turns out he was completely satisfied with getting around crawling, or walking holding onto things for awhile before he got the courage to try some independent steps. Now, he prefers to run and dance.

Christmas was a lot of fun. I wish that I would think to update this thing more often, because my memory has nearly faded of that day. However, a quick synopsis : I had christmas eve off, so my mom and my brothers came over, and they brought baby Jon with them. I got baby Jon a Nerf sword for christmas. I didn't think it was a terribly appropriate gift for a toddler, but my brother Jon insisted he would love it, and boy did he! Finnigan got a cragislist Fisher price laugh and learn pony, a ball pit, and an Elfun elephant that spits balls out of his trunk for christmas from mommy and daddy. He got a giant toy storage shelving deal that was much needed from his grandparents. His aunt Amanda, uncle Austin and cousins came to visit, and Colin and I and Finn stayed over on Christmas Eve so we could all wake up together on Christmas morning. It was fun, although Finn was a little over stimulated, and didn't participate much in opening gifts. He did play with the paper for a bit though, and enjoyed playing with all of they toys later. =)

Right after Finn turned one, just prior to his party I finally broke down and got his first haircut. He did amazingly well with it, He didn't cry or whine, just flirted with the hair stylist a lot.

For his birthday Finn got a craigslist Fischer Price learn and laugh home, which he plays with every day, so it was much worth the much discounted price that I paid for it! We had my brother and his kids over for a small party. My mom and brother, as well as Colin's parents were all sick so it was a very small party, but Finn sure did enjoy his cake! Grandma and grandpa got him a B. drum set that he had coveted at a toddler sized friends house, as well as a sock monkey jack-in-the-box. He officially has more toys at this point in his life then my brothers and I ever did are entire childhood, all put together.

Finn is having fun with life, and walking around. He really wants to get outside and play, we are just waiting on the weather to warm up. I do take him out on the porch for short visits with the geese, who he squeals, "birdzeees!" at when he sees them. He thinks they are hilarious, entertaining, close personal friends. I cannot wait to take him back to the zoo this summer, and see how he interacts with all of those (much cooler) animals.

We got one year photos the other day, finally. Almost one month late. It was kind of nightmarish ordeal, because the place was packed, and it took two hours to get the photos taken and get out of there, and we left without even having the photos finished because it was way past Finn's bedtime. It was, in particular, Colin's worse nightmare as he hates getting pictures done, anyways. However, they turned out pretty well. And, I am sure he will be glad we got these when Finnigan is older. =)

We are attempting to buy a property, everything is pending the inspection which will be done by tomorrow, so hopefully we can move later this month. We will see. We think even if the house appraises high enough, that there are fixes that will need to be made before we can secure the loan, as we are obtaining an FHA loan. We shall see, I am not getting my hopes up yet, but hope to have some news one way or the other, soon.
