Baby's First Holiday, and his First Concert!

I had to work on the fourth of July, but Colin and the baby lit off some sparklers together while I was at work. Colin says that Finn liked it for a few seconds, and then quickly lost interest. I'd like to try when it is darker outside, but he has been going to bed at twilight lately. Although, that is nice because it gives me time to get housework, research, and blog entries done at night before going to bed. For the first several months, this kid would stay up til midnight or later, before going to bed for the night!

We had tickets to go to saturday of the two day music festival that happens every year here in Des Moines. I go every year, and this year one of my favorite bands, Death Cab for Cutie, was headlining. We attempted to go earlier in the afternoon, but the heat index was 105, and there was no shade to be had anywhere! The nurse in me was worried the baby would get so dehydrated that he would go into kidney failure, even though I was planning on nursing him continuously, and we had Colin's work right across the street to cool down in whenever we needed. So, I made us leave. But we came back at twilight to see Death Cab. The baby had a lot of fun! He jumped around to the music, and we cut out early so he could get home and get to bed. It has been one of my dreams to see Death Cab live, and I never would have dreamed I leave their concert early, PROOF that priorities change once you become a parent!!

Keeping Cool!!

Lots of firsts this weekend, including his first time in the grass. Finn can dig it.

Finnigan is eating solids like a champ! He actually might be overeating, I don't know, haha. He can nurse, eat several things of baby food at one sitting, then nurse again. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and I doubt he is low on the weight curve anymore! He seems tall too. It will be interesting to see where he falls on the growth charts this time. But I saw him next to a newborn this weekend, and cannot believe how big he has gotten. That is so cliche, and I never thought I'd say it, but it certainly is the truth!

Finnigan is rolling around both ways like a champ, I heard him chatting a couple of days ago early in the morning, and found him on his stomach, staring up, talking to the fan.

Have I mentioned how much I love being a mommy? Life is good. =)
