Weekends are fun!

It was my weekend off again, so I got to do more than sleep in between shifts. I was asked by my unit director to work this weekend, but I cannot bring myself to work overtime anymore when it means time away from my husband and my baby. It's just not worth the extra money! I feel bad that it leaves shifts short, but I will always put this baby first now. =)

Friday evening the baby was restless and fussy. I had worked for three days in a row prior to friday, and so the baby (whose favorite place to be is outside) had been cooped up in the house that whole time with grandmas, and I think he was just plain bored because he perked up and was as happy as can be as soon as we got him out of the house! We went downtown to the art festival. I LOVE downtown Des Moines. The art park circles around the Pappajohn Art Park downtown where Colin and I officially met, so baby got to go to that spot with us for the first time.

Finnigan prefers the Moby wrap to the stroller because he can sit up and look around better, and I think he feels more secure closer to mommy. He also loved being able to flirt with every girl who passed by who had to stop and tell him how beautiful he was, and how gorgeous his eyes are! He eats the attention right up! He spent a couple of happy as can be hours walking around, looking at all the colors and people. We ran into like 8 people we knew which often happens in this town, even though we really aren't that small! But it feels like a small town, which is nice. Colin and I love Des Moines! It just feels like home to us.

Baby nursed and passed out cold when he got home, and when he woke up saturday morning, I took him out on the porch, which I have done every morning since we planted the garden, and we saw a group of ducks running right for us from over the hill in front of our deck. Well, at first I thought they were the geese we had fed the week before, as they were heading another direction and did a u-turn as soon as they saw us standing out there, so I assumed they (the geese) were coming back for seconds, but as they got closer I realized they were ducks. Shortly after the ducks showed up though, the group of geese that we are used to hanging out by our porch started coming (very fast) over that same hill! I thought they were going to run off the ducks, who were much smaller, but the ducks stood their ground, and the geese went the other way!

I ran to go get the camera, but I just caught the tell end of the showdown, as the geese ran away!

I spent the majority of saturday trying to organize the house. I need to make room for all of Finnigan's toys that I keep buying. I grew up fairly poor (at least by american standards) and so Finn owns more toys at three months than I have my whole life! I recently just bought those ball pit plastic balls off of amazon that I spoke of on a recent post, and put it away along with a play tent for Finn's first Christmas. Hopefully I will be able to hold out giving them to him before then! Also, hopefully, he will be old enough to be able to participate a little bit in unwrapping gifts! If so, Christmas will be more fun for me than ever before! We did score a really cool train table for 20 dollars. Colin and I discussed next christmas, or the christmas after getting him a train set, and then giving him the train table for his birthday a few months later.

Sunday after Church we took the baby to the pool.

Baby LOVES bath time, and warm water, but was not a fan of the cold water. I had gotten him a baby floating raft from amazon, but he cried when he was in it, but would stop and look around curiously when mommy picked him up. We didn't stay very long, but I want to enroll him in baby swim lessons because I think it's an important life skill for small children to have, so I wanted to introduce him to the water early so he won't fear it for class.

After the pool, we went to Colin's parents house, which we do every sunday, and Grandpa played the piano for Finnigan, which is one of his favorite things in the universe, this baby LOVES music.

We packed a lot into this weekend, and it was fun, but last night this momma went to bed TIRED. Looking forward to next sunday's Loas festival at the temple. Baby is going to love all those noises, sights, and smells!
