I took her to her pediatrician this week and she is 14 pounds 4 oz. She is only in 20th percentile for height though, she's probably going to be short like her momma. She is rolling all over the place and scooting and moving - although not yet crawling. She rolled this morning from our living room down the hallway towards the kitchen where everyone else was hanging out. She is interested in foods, and drooling for carbohydrates - so the doctor wanted me to try her on rice cereal again - but still pushes the cereal out of her mouth so I cannot really do anything for her until she looses that reflex.
Finnigan and I completed our first ever tele health session today! It went very well. We are the first family in the state to do such a program, and so today was Iowa's first in home ABA therapy session, ever. Finnigan is going to be famous because both WHO and the Register want to interview us.
Finnigan mastered level one of four out of 8 programs that we are running on day one, which is great. He is going to blow through all the curriculum they can give me, I think. We are working on interverbals (filling in words to songs that he knows, which helps him practice building blocks of conversation skills. He knows a lot of words, and can ask for a lot of things but he is far from conversational still, which is developmentally appropriate for his age). We are also working on safety words, so playing fun games with Finn to teach him the word, "stop," so that when I need him to stop in order to avoid danger, or wandering out of sight he will do so. We are also working on non-identical matching/sorting of items, joint attention (getting him to attend to what I am looking at in his environment, and share his experiences with me, and share in my experiences), block imitation as well as waiting for things that he wants, and having "calm hands," which is basically ceasing from slapping, or swiping at things, people or himself when he is upset.
Really, it's a lot of the same stuff I have already been working with him on - only now I have someone that can talk me through it, so I am more effective and efficient and our time doesn't have to be spent on all the "homework," I was needing to do before because we have a "coach." It will be great. I am excited for other families to have access to this service!
Recently played with a friend his age at a park and he ran after the friend, calling him by name and they chased each other up and down the equipment and hugged and tackled each other. You couldn't tell by looking at them that there was really any difference - except that Finn is a little bigger, but hardly ever talks outside of home unless prompted. It is always nice to see him have so much fun playing with other kiddos, because it reassures me he will have friends. Well, he already does, really!
Hopefully, his bestest friend will be this one:
Finn with his sensory blanket that was made for him by a friend from church. He loves it. |
She was so cute and Funny. Jewel State. She played Kaylee in Firefly. |
The lady that plays River Song on Doctor Who. |
Finn was tuckered out by the end of the Con - so he slept in his stroller for hours after we got home. |
Smiley baby. LOVE. |
Whats that funny noise mommy is making? |

Not the best picture of me, seeing as my hair isn't combed but Finn really wanted to take some selfies. |
Love him!
