Baby Adeline is here!

Baby Adeline was born early morning on tuesday! She is such a sweet baby, and we are smitten. She was either 7 pounds 1 or 2 ounces - I have paperwork that says both. She was 6 pounds 10 oz when we left the hospital, which makes my 35 pound toddler seem like a giant to me now! He still felt like a baby before I left for the hospital, but now suddenly seems so grown up, it's a little sad. Because of the difference in size I have to mitigate all of their interactions very closely though, because Finn is wild and throws and flails his body due to his ASD and doesn't know his body in space, and never realizes that he has hurt another person by knocking them down, or kicking them in the head, ect.

He loves her though, which is pretty obvious by photos we were able to have taken at the hospital. Every morning when he sees she is still here, he has the same reaction: grin, grin, giggle.

We are adjusting pretty well. Recovery for this section went much easier than the last one. Maybe because it was scheduled and I wasn't in labor for days and days before hand, but I never needed anything stronger than Ibuprofen after the block wore off, and after two days I was begging the doctors to let me go home. I was peeing and pooping and walking okay, so they let me go home early, which was great. I honestly really don't have any pain at this point at all. Unless I cough, or laugh or sneeze. =)

The first night home was rough. Baby Adeline didn't want to sleep that night, and only wanted to nurse continuously. Which in and of itself is expected of a newborn, however, she kept biting me. Hard, over and over again until I was ready (almost, ready) to throw in the towel and just pump and bottle feed her. Luckily, Colin woke up and took her for an hour and a half so I could get a 90 minute nap, and I woke up ready to try again and with a little appliance we got from target - nursing is going much better.  And Adeline is sleeping much better. She wakes up 3-4 times a night to nurse now, which is perfect.

We are just enjoying getting to know each other as a family. It's hard for Finn to not immediately always be able to have my attention at any given moment like he's used to because I am nursing, but he will adjust well, I think. As soon as I had the baby, I lost any interest in school work, so I haven't even bothered to try to finish my last class for this semester. It can wait until after my three month break. I just want to bask in this time off with my kiddos. I fear this might be my last baby, for various reasons - so I am going to enjoy every second I have with this one.
